Drivers using Route 243 between San Isidro de El General and Dominical should expect minor delays today as transportation officials carry out final work on the new bridge over the Pacuar River.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) will regulate traffic at the bridge from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2. During that time, vehicles will move through one lane only, with alternating passage in each direction.
The measure is intended to allow crews to complete final details and supervision work on the structure. Authorities did not announce a full closure, but drivers should plan for slower travel through the La Palma sector, especially during the middle of the day.
The bridge is an important link for traffic between Pérez Zeledón and the South Pacific coast. Route 243 is commonly used by residents, workers, delivery vehicles and tourists traveling between San Isidro de El General and Dominical.
The new bridge has been in service since late March, replacing the older modular structure that had long limited traffic in the area. The project cost ₡1.754 billion and includes two vehicle lanes, a 60-meter span and a pedestrian sidewalk.
The work forms part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow and safety on one of the main road corridors connecting the Southern Zone with Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
Drivers heading through the area today should allow extra time, obey traffic officials at the site and watch for workers and equipment near the bridge.
