FoodFest Returns for Two Weekends of Gastronomy and Entertainment

The 12th edition of FoodFest Costa Rica kicks off this weekend at Parque Metropolitano La Sabana, drawing families and food lovers to a free outdoor event packed with culinary options and live performances.

Organizers expect between 20,000 and 25,000 people each day across the four dates: Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, followed by Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, giving attendees plenty of time to explore.

More than 30 food trucks will line the park, serving a mix of local and international dishes. Visitors can sample traditional Costa Rican meals alongside Latin American, Lebanese, Peruvian, and Mexican flavors. The setup encourages picnics on the grass, with spots for families to spread out and enjoy the open air.

Live music takes center stage, with concerts and DJ sets scheduled throughout the days. Bands and performers will play a range of genres to keep the crowd moving. For families, the event includes inflatables for kids and other recreational activities. It’s pet-friendly too, so dog owners can bring their companions along.

The Municipalidad de San José supports the festival, which aims to blend food, culture, and community in one of the city’s main green spaces. Entrepreneurs will showcase products, adding a market element to the mix. Attendees should plan for crowds and consider public transport or parking options around the park. Weather in February typically stays dry and warm, making it ideal for an outdoor gathering.

This year’s FoodFest builds on past successes, offering a chance for people to connect over shared meals and entertainment in a relaxed setting.
