Air Panama to offer new flights from San José to David, Bocas del Toro

“Panama has it all” is the name of a new tourism campaign in that country, and soon it will have one more thing: Air Panama flights from San José to David and Bocas del Toro three times a week.

Explaining the slogan, Maru Galvez of Air Panama said, “Beyond business and investment options, which are very attractive, it’s looking at Panama as an opportunity for relaxation and entertainment. Bocas del Toro and Chiriquí have always been destinations visited by Costa Ricans, but because of the lack of air connections and high fares, most people visited by road.

“Now with this David-Bocas del Toro flight, Air Panama brings people closer to these destinations with three flights a week starting Oct. 1, 2015, so they can enjoy exotic beaches, mountains and hotel offers.”

The flights originate in San José, make a stop in David and then continue to Bocas.

Air Panama, in conjunction with the Panama Tourism Authority, is partnering with several hotels to offer special packages that combine airfare, two nights of lodging, breakfast, transfers and taxes for as low as $299.

Participating hotels in Bocas del Toro, the northern archipelago and popular aquatic playground, include the Red Frog, Playa Tortuga, Hotel El Limbo and Gran Bahía Hotel.

In Chiriquí, the province that includes Boquete and David, hotels include the Ciudad David, Aranjuez, Panamonte, Casa Grande Bambito and Los Molinos.

Packages can be purchased from Desafíos Travel, Destinos TV and Carritur in San José.

“We Central American countries should look to our neighbors for business opportunities and vacation destinations, said Jennifer Champsaur, Panama’s vice minister of tourism. “The air connections, the short distances and the fact that we speak the same language are important competitive advantages for growth.”
