If you are a hotel or guest-house owner, beware of a very slick thief posing as a Guatemalan tour guide. He ran off with my cell phone this week after I fell for his story.
He said he stayed in my guest house years ago and that he’s trying to find accommodations for 15 people. But don’t let him inside! Keep him talking. Excuse yourself …go in another room….and call police. If you’re lucky, they’ll show up before 2012.
