Showering the Mother You Love With Love
On Friday, Aug. 15, Costa Rica will celebrate Mothers’ Day as a national holiday.
Most of the country, besides restaurants, will be closed.
Students also have the day off from school. All Costa Rican government offices, as well as the U.S. Embassy, will be closed as well.
There will be no official celebrations or events, however, many Costa Ricans use the day to visit cemeteries and place flowers on loved ones’ gravesites.
Apart from that, the day is a popular one to go out to brunch, so advance reservations are highly recommended. And the insider’s tip on the requisite Mothers’ Day gift? Wait to buy that pampering package – or give a gift certificate that can be redeemed – after Friday when one can capitalize on the post-holiday sale prices.
