Free-Flight Fiesta in Caldera

FLYING HIGH: The Free Flight Association (ASOVUELI), a club made up ofparaglider and hang-glider pilots, will be hosting the Fiesta Tropical del Aire Aug.6-7 in Caldera and Puntarenas, on the central Pacific coast. The event will includea three-stage relay race on Aug. 6 for approximately 25 teams of three participantseach – one kayak, one mountain bike and one paraglider. According to event organizerAlessandra Sanchez, the atmosphere during and after the race will be “aparty on the coast with a focus on free flight.” Paragliders and powered paragliderswill be flying throughout the day, and tandem rides will be available for newcomersinterested in a taste of free flight.
