Gov’t Offices to Close For Easter Week

ANYONE with business involvinggovernment workers should bear in mindthat most public offices shut down for theweek of Semana Santa, or Easter HolyWeek.Labor Minister Fernando Trejos hasdeclared March 21-23 vacation dates forall public workers, in addition to the regularlegal holidays of Jueves Santo andViernes Santo, March 24-25.Most government offices will beclosed, except for emergency services,and business will resume as normalMarch 28.Immigration officials are asking allforeigners who have appointments forresidency applications and renewals andrelated processes during Semana Santa toplease reschedule. They must go toImmigration’s central offices, door three,8 a.m.-3 .m. Mon.-Fri. to pick up avoucher for a new appointment. No informationwill be provided by phone.Some private businesses, includingThe Tico Times, also close for SemanaSanta.
