Three men are dead after an attempted prison escape at La Reforma, Costa Rica's largest maximum security prison. Among the dead was Nicaraguan prisoner Erlyn Hurtado, who led the failed jailbreak. Hurtado was the man responsible for the Monteverde massacre of 2005 that left 9 people dead and 17 injured.
The 27th annual Expotur trade show began Wednesday. At the event's inauguration, President Laura Chinchilla authorized the construction of a $30 million convention center.
