Heavy rains and thunderstorms expected throughout the week

Hot and sunny mornings and cold thunderstorms in the afternoon are expected for this week, experts from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN) said Monday.

The IMN forecast says the weather is normal for the season, but people must take precautions due to heavy rains and strong winds that will occur mostly during the afternoons. Last weekend IMN systems recorded up to 100 liters per square meter of rainfall in most of the Caribbean region.

Meteorologists also recommended caution with the tides, especially in the Caribbean shores where a low pressure system could cause higher tides than usual.

As contradictory as it may seem meteorologists also said that very cool nights are also expected.

Higher temperatures will be felt in the Pacific with 34 degrees Celsius, while the lowest will be in the Central Valley with temperatures falling to 16 degrees Celsius.
