Heavy rains expected Wednesday for much of Costa Rica

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) announced that a low-pressure system will bring more rains to Costa Rica starting on Wednesday.

Approaching weather systems will increase humidity levels and will generate atmospheric instability and strong winds, the IMN forecast said. A tropical depression over Central America at midweek will cause a significant increase in rains starting Wednesday and lasting into the weekend.

Heavy rains and lightning storms are expected in the Caribbean, northern and mountainous regions, while moderate showers characteristic of the rainy season are expected in the Central Valley.

Higher temperatures will be felt in the Pacific regions, with an average of 32 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in the Central Valley are expected to fall to 15 C.

Temperatures for this week (Celsius)

Region Max Min
Central Valley 30 15
North Pacific 32 20
Central Pacific 32 18
South Pacific 32 18
Caribbean 29 19
Northern Zone 29 19
