Costa Rican products exhibited in world’s largest food fair

Costa Rican food products will be on display this week in SIAL Paris 2012, the world’s largest food fair involving some 5,900 companies from 200 countries.

Nine Tico companies are exhibiting, offering: pasta, rice, frozen tubers, pineapple juice, hearts of palm, roasted coffee, canned yuca, sugar substitutes, frozen tropical fruits and canned tuna, the Foreign Trade Promotion Office (PROCOMER) and the Chamber of Exporters of Costa Rica said.

In addition to company stands, the Costa Rica delegation will host a coffee shop. The fair ends Thursday.

Álvaro Piedra, PROCOMER’s promotion manager, said Europe is an important trading partner for Costa Rica. In 2011, 547 local companies exported $1.8 billion worth of products to the continent.
