Mexican journalist one of two bodies found in makeshift grave in Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) confirmed the identities of two men discovered last Tuesday buried in a makeshift grave in the southwestern San José suburb of Escazú, the daily La Nación reported on Saturday.

According to the report, one of the deceased men, Mexican journalist Pascual Tarin Ávila, 53, who worked for the now-defunct El Norte de Cananea, in the Mexican state of Sonora, had been reported missing in Costa Rica since June 14.

The second body was identified as 40-year-old Miguel Alcides Centeno Rodríguez, from Nicaragua. He also had been missing since June 14, when he last spoke with family members from the San José district of San Sebastian, La Nación reported.

OIJ has not yet determined the cause or time of death of the two men, and the investigation is ongoing.
