Temblors continue shaking Costa Rica

Five temblors – three on Monday and two on Tuesday – happened this week in Costa Rica, according to the National Seismological Network (RSN).

On Tuesday at 2:28 a.m., a magnitude-4.2 quake was registered 28 kilometers east of Tamarindo, in the province of Guanacaste. At 11:15 a.m., another with the same magnitude was recorded in the canton of San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela.

The RSN also recorded three temblors on Monday. The first, a magnitude of 4.2, was felt at 2:45 a.m. and was located south of the capital.

At 3:30 p.m., residents in the cantons of Escazú, Montes de Oca and Alajuelita, in the capital, felt a magnitude-3.4 quake. There were also reports the quake was noticeable in the province of Cartago.

At 6:11 p.m., a third quake of magnitude-4.3 was registered again in Guanacaste, with an epicenter located 18 kilometers south of Tamarindo. Residents of Santa Cruz, Playas del Coco, Tamarindo and Nicoya reported noticing a strong temblor.

None of the quakes caused any damage.
