Costa Rican hotels are favorite in the region

Travel and tourism website TripAdvisor.com released its ranking of the 25 best hotels in Central America, and 16 are located in Costa Rica.

The “Traveller’s Choice 2013” lists top-rated hotels by travelers and users of the popular website that registers 60 million unique monthly visitors.

Hotel Nayara in San Carlos (northern region) tops the list, followed by three other Tico hotels: La Paloma Lodge in Drake Bay (South Pacific), Arenas del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort (Manuel Antonio, Central Pacific) and The Four Seasons Papagayo in Guanacaste.

In fifth place is Victoria House in Belize.

The ranking also includes Hotel Grano de Oro in San José in sixth position and Villa Blanca Cloud Forest in San Ramón, Alajuela, in ninth.

Two hotels from Tamarindo, Guanacaste, were included – Capitán Suizo (#14) and Cala Luna (#16) – as well as four from Alajuela –,  The Springs Resort and Spa (#15), Hotel Royal Corin (#17), Arenal Springs Resort (#18) and Arenal Manoa (#19).

Hotel Parador in Manuel Antonio National Park (#20), Westin Golf Resort & Spa in Conchal, Guanacaste at #24 and Hotel Mountain Paradise at #25 close the local list.

The website explained its list comes from regional information centers, where they have collected some 75 million comments and ratings of hotels worldwide.
