Caldera Highway to use reversible lanes during Semana Santa

Autopistas Del Sol, the Spanish company in charge of Caldera Highway, will use reversible lanes to control the typical Holy Week traffic jam. The company will implement the changes to help those vacationing out of San José make a quicker return to the capital, according to a press release by the construction company.

The reversible lanes will be used on the stretch of the Caldera Highway connecting Pozón de Orotina (Alajuela) to Ciudad Colón (San Jose) on April 23 and 24th. All traffic will go toward the capital. Autopistas del Sol also used reversible lanes during several weekends in December (during Christmas) and January.

The reversible lanes will be used from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Drivers heading to Pacific coast beaches during those hours will be directed to use the old highway through Atenas.
