Costa Rica gets presidential piglet

It might have been a white elephant for some, but Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo SolĂs has adopted a piglet given to him during a protest on June 23. Protesters said that imports of pork from Chile were hurting sales of local meat, and farmers have been forced to lower per-kilo prices below operating costs. SolĂs’ spokeswoman, Stephanie González, said that the piglet, Daniela, will finish weaning before moving into her new presidential pen.
