European Union ambassadors ride their bikes through San José to send a message

Ambassadors in Costa Rica from the European Union cycled on a new bike path along part of San José’s 4th and 6th avenues to encourage residents to leave their vehicles at home. The “cleteada” ended at the Legislative Assembly, where diplomats met with Costa Rican lawmakers to discuss the Paris Climate Conference COP 21 to be held in Paris, France, in December. “We are here to talk with Costa Rican lawmakers and show that it is possible to use the bicycle, a heathy and no-emissions vehicle, in the city. In Holland, we know that it is a slow process. but right now there are more bicycles than people,” Dutch Ambassador Mette Gonggrijp said.
