US food giant Mondelēz to open shared-services center in Costa Rica

Illinois-based multinational food and beverage company Mondelēz International on Monday announced it has chosen Costa Rica for a new shared-services center that will provide business and human resources support to the company’s operations in North America.

Mondelēz manufactures and distributes several popular snack and food brands including Oreo, Cadbury, Toblerone, Tang, Milka, Chicklets and Halls from former company Kraft Foods Inc. and from the iconic Tico brand Gallito.

The company this week began recruiting staff for its Costa Rica facility, to be located west of the capital, San José. Operations are scheduled to begin in October, the company announced.

Mondelēz’s senior vice president of international business services, Caroline Basyn, said the company will hire more than 100 professionals with excellent English-language proficiency. They are looking for applicants with a background and experience in the areas of business administration, human resources, psychology, information technology and service center management, from early career to management level positions.

Those interested in applying should send résumés via Mondelēz’s website.

The company also will be looking for candidates at the upcoming edition of the ExpoEmpleo 2015  job fair at the Antigua Aduana in San José on July 10-12. The company also will hold a private recruitment event in early August. For more information about employment opportunities and recruitment, email: Carreras.Mondelez@mdlz.com

Following the announcement, Foreign Trade Minister Alexánder Mora said, “It is vital that foreign companies continue trusting Costa Rican talent to successfully develop their business globally.”

According to the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, the corporate services sector in 2014 generated 3,500 quality jobs for local professionals in the services sector.
