Accenture announces 300 new jobs in Costa Rica

Foreign Trade Minister Alexander Mora announced that Accenture, a U.S. consulting firm, would expand its operations in Costa Rica, offering 300 new jobs in the next 18 months.

Mora, accompanied by President Luis Guillermo Solís and Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency President José Rossi, announced the new investment after a meeting with 100 investors in New York. Solís traveled to the United States on Saturday to attract foreign investment while in New York to address the U.N. Climate Summit on Tuesday and the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday.

Casa Presidencial said that Accenture will be looking for technicians and professionals in finance, administration, systems engineering and people with experience in procurement and accounting, among other fields. Interested parties can send a résumé to: accenture_av_cr_tsn@accenture.com. Accenture currently employs some 600 people in Costa Rica.

Solís said his team has been “transparent” with investors about the state of the country’s finances following a downgrade by Moody’s Investor Services on Sept. 16. The president said his announcement of two new proposed taxes was well received by business representatives at Monday’s meeting.

The president added that the meeting on Monday also aimed to draw investment to the agroindustrial sector in rural and coastal areas as part of the administration’s initiative to create jobs outside the densely populated Central Valley.
