Wal-Mart announces discounts for Black Friday

The logo of the world’s biggest retail chain will become more visible in Costa Rica on Friday as six national Hipermás retail stores will be renamed Wal-Mart. An inauguration ceremony will be held Friday morning to welcome the new Wal-Mart logo, which will replace the smiling blue whale logo of Hipermás.

In addition to the logo unveiling, Wal-Mart will offer discounts and deals at its locations throughout the country on Friday. The chain has dubbed the day as “Black Friday”, akin to the biggest shopping day of the year in the U.S., which is the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Wal-mart, which entered Costa Rica in 2005, owns national the supermarkets of Hipermás, Mas x Menos, Palí and Maxi Bodega.
