Party leaders agree to vote on fiscal reform plan

National Liberation Party leader Luis Gerardo Villanueva announced Thursday that Legislative Assembly party leaders accepted a proposal to speed up approval in first debate of the government’s fiscal reform plan.

“Libertarian lawmakers are committed to removing more than 100 motions and to not file any others, while all other party leaders also agreed not to file any new motions,” Villanueva said.

With this agreement, the bill could be voted on during preliminary discussions in about three or four days, and then will have to await review by the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court (Sala IV) to determine if the plan contradicts constitutional principles.
