Chinese New Year brings 300 kilograms of free fried rice to the capital

The Chinese New Year in Costa Rica will be celebrated Monday with 300 kilograms of Cantonese fried rice.

The Chinese Embassy, with assistance from the San José Municipality and local Chinese residents, will give out the free helpings of fried rice to commemorate the upcoming Year of the Dragon.

The event begins at 11 a.m. in front of La Soledad Church in downtown San José, near where Costa Rica is building its own Chinatown.
