Don’t Miss Annual Earthship Pitaya Festival

Dear Nica Times:

Once a year on a full moon thousands of people from across the globe congregate in El Carizal to rock out to a mix of live music and good vibes at the Earthship Pitaya Music Festival.

This annual event takes place directly in front of Casa Llanta in the community of El Carizal, 6 kilometers south of San Juan del Sur. The festival serves as a platform to feature local artists and inspire children in the community by raising awareness and funds for outreach projects in Carizal.

This year’s music festival is Jan.30. There will be regular shuttles running from the center of San Juan del Sur to the festival throughout the day. It will start at 11 a.m. with activities such as yoga and a kids’ party. A food court will offer a variety of organic flavors from local vendors.

Live music starts at 3 p.m. and will go late into the night with a variety of artists. Bands include local favorites such as Don Bigote y Los Poprecitos, a local reggae band and San Juan’s DJ Johnny G will wrap up the after party. For more info: www.earthshippitayafestival.com.
