Chile’s Bachelet to visit Costa Rica next week

Costa Rica has set a date to host Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on her first official visit here, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday.

Bachelet is set to meet with President Oscar Arias Oct. 28, expected to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between their nations.

The Chilean president will be accompanied by a delegation of 64 cabinet members, legislators and business leaders, plus 16 journalists, the ministry said in a press release issued yesterday.

Following her meeting with Arias, Bachelet is scheduled to attend a lunch organized by the Costa Rican Union of Private-Sector Chambers and Associations.

On Oct. 29, she is expected to salute Chileans residing in Costa Rica in the morning, and later visit the Inter-American Human Rights Court in San José, where she will attend an unveiling of the court´s new facilities.

After that, the Bachelet is scheduled to fly to San Salvador, El Salvador, to participate in a regional summit, the Cumbre Iberoamericano.

In related news, the Foreign Ministry announced a visit planned for Friday by Jordan´s King Abdallah II has been postponed.
