Funes, Colom to Meet with Lobo in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA – Salvadoran President Mauricio Funes and Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom are expected to travel to Honduras next week to meet with President Porfirio Lobo to discuss regional security and other related issues, according to the Honduran Foreign Ministry.

“One of the things we are looking to do, for the first time, is to manage national security within a more integral context,” said Honduran Foreign Minister Mario Canahuati.

The three leaders, who met last month in El Salvador, are also expected to discuss continued efforts to regain international recognition for Honduras, following last year’s coup against President Manuel Zelaya.

Nicaragua is the only country in Central America that refuses to recognize the Lobo government.
