Canine Agility Contest Planned This Weekend

Dogs will have a chance to show off their moves at a canine agility contest this weekend at the Club Hípico de la Caraña horse club in Santa Ana, southwest of San José.

Any U.S. Dog Agility Association (USDAA) member can enter the competition, which includes jumping, agility and steeplechase events.

It’s easy to become a member online, and no pedigree is required, said Mary Carmen Marín, owner of Pets’ Paradise and an organizer of the competition. Registration for the weekend competition costs $35.

An agility seminar taught by Stacy Peardot-Goudy, who has won several international dog agility competitions, will be available Friday. The course costs $100 for human-dog pairs and $65 for humans.

Peardot-Goudy will also judge the official USDAA contest. For more information, call 381-8285.
