The popular Nicaraguan rock fusion band Perrozompopo will be playing in San José July 27 and 28 at Cine Variedades as part of a tour to celebrate the release of the band’s new album “Quiero que Sepas” (“I Want You to Know”).
The band, led by creator Ramón Mejía, mixes ska, poetry, rock, rap and reggae to create a fluid sound that promotes social awareness.
This second album by Perrozompopo is made up of 13 tracks, most of which were recorded in San José and Managua between December and May. Much of the music was inspired by immigrant women “with their crossed borders, their solitudes, their loves and wounds,” according to a statement from Papaya Music, which produced the album. Songs released through an early promotion have already received popular reviews, according to the statement.
