Airlines Increase Daily Flights to Managua

Mexican airline Aeromexico this week innagurated a new twice-weekly flight from Mexico City to Managua.

The two-and-a-half-hour direct flight, Aeromexico’s first to Nicaragua, will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays, with a starting promotional price of $440, according to the Mexican airline.

The Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (INTUR) said the new flight will be an important link for tourism and businesses between the two countries.

Spirit Airlines, from the United States, has also finalized negotiations to start new direct flights to Managua from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Los Angeles, California, starting Aug. 2.

Spirit Airlines (www.spiritair.com), which will be using an Airbus 320 for its Managua routes, will also offer a new option for travel to other Latin American destinations such as Costa Rica and Guatemala, among other countries.

The two new airlines will join American, Continental, Copa, Taca, Delta and Aerocaribbean, offering an average of 16 daily flights to and from Managua, depending on the day of the week.
