Costa Rican hotels ready for Holy Week rush

A survey conducted by the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels (CCH) indicates that occupancy rates at beach and mountain hotels could reach 82 percent during this year’s Holy Week, which runs from March 24-31.

Beach hotels have the highest expectations, hoping that 86.5 percent of their rooms will be booked, while mountain hotels expect an occupancy rate of 79.1 percent.

City hotels, as expected, are less optimistic, although their estimated occupancy rate during the holidays of 71 percent surpasses last year’s 68 percent.

Hotels in the northwestern province of Guanacaste likely will draw the most visitors, according the survey, with nearly 9 of 10 rooms booked. Caribbean hotels follow at 85 percent of rooms booked, while Pacific coast hotels expect an 83 percent occupancy rate.

Overall, hotels across the country have an occupancy rate expectation of 71 percent.

The CCH survey included 45 hotels across the country.
