Banco Popular to Restart Consumer, Home Lending

Starting next week, Banco Popular (BNCR) will reactivate consumer and mortgage credit.

This year BNCR plans to inject ¢213 billion (about $387 million) into consumers credit and ¢31 billion (about $56 million) for mortgage credit lines, the daily La Nación reported Wednesday.

These services had been suspended for the last three months due to uncertainty from the international economic crisis, in addition to the restriction on liquidity within the national financial market.
