Mother of Nine Expecting Conjoined Twins

A resident of León XIII, a low-income neighborhood west of San José, is due to give birth to a pair of conjoined twin girls attached at the chest at Hospital México Aug. 29, the daily Al Día reported. The children do not share any vital organs.Dr. Daniel Díaz, the primary physician attending to the mother, identified only as “María,” has confirmed that the pregnancy is otherwise problem-free so far, according to the daily.María lives under difficult economic conditions due to her previous nine children, six of whom live with her, and a husband without steady employment. Her parents and Díaz urge the public to provide financial assistance for medical attention, clothes and food for the children.To donate money, or for information about assisting the family, please call Hospital México at 242-6700.
