Gas Prices Increase Again

The price of gas has increased for the eighth time this year.

The Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) approved the price increase last week and it went into effect yesterday after being published in the official government daily, La Gaceta.

The price of one liter of super gasoline increased from ¢575 ($1.11) to ¢597 ($1.15), while the price of one liter of regular gas increased from ¢550 ($1.06) to ¢573 ($1.11). Diesel costs increased from ¢380 ($0.73) to ¢383 ($0.74) per liter.

The price of gas sold in Costa Rica by the National Oil Refinery (RECOPE) has continually increased this year because of skyrocketing petroleum prices on the international market, ARESEP said in a statement.
