Wharton Honors President Arias

The Wharton School of Business in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania held its annual alumni forum in the San José suburb of Escazú last week, uniting world leaders in economic and environmental issues, including global warming.

The prestigious business school announced intentions to help develop and fund an environmentally friendly economic model for rural communities near the San Juan River, along Costa Rica’s northeastern border with Nicaragua.

According to Wharton, the goal is “to unite inhabitants of both nations and convert them to eco-businessmen and women.”

The forum, which also included several workshops and panel discussions that linked global business and environmental issues, was highlighted by an award ceremony, in which the school presented President Oscar Arias with a leadership medal for his work promoting “peace, economic development and social justice throughout his career in public service.”
