Search continues for missing woman in Montezuma, Costa Rica

Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) told The Tico Times this afternoon that the German tourist who disappeared from Montezuma, on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, on May 3 has not yet been found and that a number of phone tips have led to dead ends.

“There are no indications of her location,” OIJ Officer Gabriel Jiménez, of the OIJ’s Cóbano branch, told The Tico Times by phone. “Various reports that she has been seen in different locations have been disproved.”

Gerlinde Hahne, 75, went for a walk on the afternoon of May 3 in the community of Delicias and has not been seen since.

Jiménez said that one report yesterday led officials to investigate a potential sighting in the city of Puntarenas, but to no avail.

“It was a 31-year-old homeless person of Canadian origin,” he said.

People who have information about Hahne’s whereabouts are asked to contact the OIJ at 2642-0480 or 800-8000-645. Jiménez said either number can accommodate callers who speak English and not Spanish.
