Magnitude-4.5 temblor felt in Costa Rica

A magnitude-4.5 quake jolted the central Pacific at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday in the community of Cocalito, Puntarenas.

According to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori), the quake registered a depth of 13 kilometers. Residents reported feeling a “moderate shake” in several neighborhoods across the capital and in the province of Heredia.

On Tuesday, Ovsicori also recorded a magnitude-2.6 temblor 41 kilometers southwest of Parrita, in the southern Pacific region.

No injuries or damage were reported.
