U.S. universities to offer scholarships to Costa Rican students

Officials from 20 U.S. universities will be offering information on how to obtain scholarships on Thursday at the American Education Expo Scholarship Fair 2013, at Hotel Real Intercontinental in Escazú, southwest of San José, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

The fair is organized by the International Student Network (ISN), which indicated in a press release that universities will be seeking students for careers in technology, engineering and science, which have the greatest demand for professionals in the United States.

U.S. universities, which have seen a steady decline in student numbers in these areas, are reaching out to Latin American students to fill the gap.

The U.S. Embassy in San José also will present a short conference on the procedures for obtaining U.S. visas from 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m.

Participating universities include California State University, Drury University, Drexel University, ELS Language Centers, ESLI Universities, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, Murray State University, Northern Arizona University, Oklahoma City University, San Mateo Community College District, University of California Irvine, University of Florida and University of Maryland ELI.

Entrance to the event is free. For more information visit ISN at: www.studentlane.com.
