Costa Rica’s cab fares going up

National cab fare will increase ¢15 in the upcoming weeks, the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) has announced. The standard rate of ¢530/kilometer will be hiked to ¢545/kilometer to compensate for an increase in gas prices in the month of February.

In 2010, taxi fare was raised from ¢510/kilometer to ¢530/kilometer.

Thus far in 2011, national gas prices have increased each month.
