Costa Rican facing pedophilia charges arrested in Hawaii

A Costa Rican man facing charges of raping a 3-year-old child was arrested by U.S. Federal agents in Honolulu, Hawaii, The Star-Advertiser reported.

Diego Mata Sánchez, a 46-year-old Costa Rican citizen is wanted in this country for allegedly raping a 3-year-old child in 2001, the Star-Advertiser reported. Mata was arrested Friday night by U.S. Marshals and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, according to the Star-Advertiser report. Mata is being held by ICE until deportation can be arranged because he was in the United States illegally. 

The newspaper also reported Mata had been the subject of an International Police (Interpol) warrant issued in 2009, which accused him of rape, crimes against children and other charges.
