Costa Rica Water Outage to Affect 13,000 in Heredia

More than 13,000 people in San Rafael de Heredia are expected to lose water service for six hours today, while crews clean two storage tanks. The outage is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will affect approximately 13,212 people in parts of the San Rafael and Los Ángeles districts.

The Empresa de Servicios Públicos de Heredia (ESPH), will carry out the work at the Brasilia Mediano and Tirol Nuevo tanks. Areas supplied by the Brasilia Mediano tank include parts of central San Rafael and Los Ángeles, along with the La Quinta and La Alameda neighborhoods. The affected area also includes Calle Mata de Plátano, Calle Nueva, Naranjo, Murillo, Las Monjas, Calle Lobos, Calle La Honguera, Calle Hernández, Calle Vargas and Calle La Saca.

Colegio Nueva Generación and the Bello Verde condominium complex are also on the outage list. Cleaning at the Tirol Nuevo tank will interrupt service in Residencial Tirol El Monte, Highland Ranch, Residencial El Castillo, Montecitos, Bosque de la Hoja, Laguna de Plata, Calle Chorreras and Urbanización La Joya, as well as parts of La Hoja and La Rosa.

Possible interruptions could also affect the Poás, Orosí and Talamanca avenues in the Aves del Paraíso residential community. ESPH advised customers to store only the water needed for basic activities during the scheduled shutdown. Residents and businesses can check whether their address falls within the affected area and request further information by calling 2562-3774 or visiting ESPH’s website.
