Alaska Airlines Launches Year-End Costa Rica Airfare Sale

Travelers eyeing a trip to Costa Rica now have a chance to book flights at reduced rates through Alaska Airlines’ latest promotion. The airline rolled out a fare sale that provides 10% to 20% off base fares for select routes, including those connecting the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica. Passengers can apply the promo code THANKYOU20 during booking to secure the discount.

The offer comes at a time when many people plan getaways for the new year. For flights heading to Costa Rica from North America, the 20% discount applies to departures on Sundays through Wednesdays. Those flying out of Costa Rica back to the U.S. or Canada qualify for the full 20% off on Tuesdays through Fridays. On other days, the sale drops to 10% off, still providing savings for flexible schedules.

Alaska Airlines flies into our two main airports San José and Liberia and this promotion covers nonstop and connecting flights operated by Alaska Airlines and its partner Hawaiian Airlines. It targets routes within North America and extends to Central American spots like Guatemala and Belize, but the inclusion of Costa Rica stands out for local tourism boosters.

Bookings must happen by tomorrow December 31, before 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. The travel window opens on January 7, 2026, and runs through May 21, 2026, giving plenty of time for winter escapes or dry season visits here in Costa Rica.

However, some dates fall under blackout periods where the discount does not apply: January 15 to 19, February 12 to 17, and March 17 to April 20, 2026. These align with high-demand holidays like Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, and spring break peaks.

For Costa Ricans looking to head north, this deal opens doors to cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, or Portland at lower costs. Meanwhile, it encourages more visitors from the U.S. and Canada to explore Costa Rica’s beaches, volcanoes, and national parks. Tourism officials here note that affordable airfare often boosts arrivals, supporting jobs in hospitality and related sectors.

To use the code, passengers enter THANKYOU20 in the discount field when searching flights on the Alaska Airlines website or app. The savings apply only to the base fare, excluding taxes, fees, and add-ons like seat upgrades. Availability depends on routes and dates, so early booking helps lock in the best options.

This promotion wraps up Alaska Airlines’ efforts to expand in Latin America, where it has increased service to Costa Rica in recent years. With direct flights from key U.S. hubs, the airline connects passengers to Costa Rica’s Pacific and Caribbean coasts without long layovers.

Travelers should check flight schedules, as not all routes run daily. The sale applies to paid fares only, not award tickets or partner redemptions. For full details, head to the airline’s site and plug in your itinerary.
