Tennis Champ Bianca Andreescu in Costa Rica For Her Mental Health

Canadian Tennis Star Bianca Andreescu, winner of the 2019 US Open Tennis championship and who has been ranked as high as no 4 and is currently World No. 43, has been in Costa Rica recently for what she said was a mental break and to “rediscover myself”.

According to her Instagram posts she has been in Nosara attending the Wisdom and Well-being Program at the Blue Spirit retreat center getting herself mentally ready to play again.

Last December she withdrew from playing in the 2022 Australian open as what she described as the last 2 years being “very challenging” for her, both physically and mentally and even sent a message via social media saying:

As you all know, the past two years have been very challenging for me for a variety of reasons. Especially this year in particular, I spent multiple weeks in isolation, quarantining which affected me greatly – both mentally and physically.”

The last time she played competitive tennis was at the 2021 Indian Wells tournament in California, but lost in the 3rd round. It was an event she had previously won in 2019 where she became the first wildcard entrant to win it.

This year the tournament begins in March and although she states that she is feeling much better and being at the retreat is “unforgettable” she will not be going as she continues to work on her mental health.

Let’s hope she feels better soon and we get to see her extraordinary play in Paris at Roland Garros in May!
