General Cañas Highway closed at nights starting Monday

General Cañas Highway, which connects La Sabana Park in western San José to Juan Santamaría International Airport in the province of Alajuela, will be closed Monday night for repairs.

Roadwork will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The section under repair is in the direction of San José to Alajuela only, and begins from the bridge over the Virilla River to the junction with the Real Cariari Mall.

Traffic police will close access to the Juan Pablo II Bridge in La Uruca, west of San José, and all transit will be redirected through the provinces of Heredia and Alajuela.

Transit Police Director Diego Herrera said the work will take no less than a week, and he asked drivers to be patient and use alternate routes.
