Foreigner at San José airport found with pouches of heroin in vagina

A foreign woman with the last name Gómez was arrested at Juan Santamaria International Airport outside San José around noon Thursday after authorities discovered 48 ovules filled with heroin in the woman’s vagina, wastline and bra, the daily La Nación reported.

The 21-year-old was reported to be carrying a total of 725 grams of heroin. She was caught by airport officials while trying to board a plane to Cancún, Mexico.

Anti-drug agents found 16 ovules in her bra, 18 around her wasteline and 14 in her vagina. The woman, whose nationality was not given, entered the country on Nov. 19. She could face 20 years in prison for international drug trafficking.
