U.S. ambassador to Costa Rica speaks on women empowerment

U.S. Ambassador Anne Slaughter Andrew spoke to approximately 100 women at the 2011 Women in Leadership Speaker Series . Andrew spoke at the Women’s Club of Costa Rica’s monthly meeting in the Aurora Hollyday Inn in San José. The forum intends to promote and influence women in Costa Rica by providing them with opportunities for personal, professional and economic growth.

The ambassador shared her personal experiences as the first female U.S. ambassador to Costa Rica and emphasized economic empowerment for women in the country. During her speech Andrew’s gave advice in her experience in law, business and public policy. Andrew said her goals for the country include enhancing citizen security and promoting clean energy.

“I’m delighted to be here to kick of the 2011 Women Speaker Series,” Andrew said. “And I hope to be a part of the long and successful history of the women’s club.”
