Canadian Actors to Give Meisner Technique Workshops

Sponsored by longtime local theater institution The Little Theatre Group, Seditionaire Productions of Montreal, Canada, will be conducting a series of intensive Meisner technique workshops at San José’s Laurence Olivier Theater starting Jan. 13.

Developed by late U.S. acting coach Sanford Meisner, the Meisner technique is geared at teaching the actor to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances” through an improvisation technique based on observation and repetition.

Geared to both novice and professional actors, the workshops will include an introductory intensive course on the technique itself and a scene-study class with a presentation before an invited audience.

They will be led by Canadians Lita Tresierra and Kenneth Leonard, both trained by renowned Canadian acting coach Jacqueline McClintock, one of the last instructors taught by Meisner himself.

Workshops will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. The cost is $250 plus a $25 registration fee. For more information on the workshop and the technique, visit seditionaire.blogspot.com. To register, go to www.littletheatregroup.org.
