National Household Survey begins this week in Costa Rica

The National Statistics and Census Institute (INEC) on Monday began conducting the National Household Survey, a study to determine the current state of poverty and unemployment in Costa Rica.

INEC interviewers are expected to visit 13,400 randomly selected homes from July 2-Aug. 3 to complete the study. The cost of the study is estimated at ₡400 million ($79,000).

The staff of 150 surveyors will be dressed in blue INEC vests and badges, and will work from Monday to Saturday, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

INEC will also measure public access to and use of the information and communication technologies.
