Sizeable temblor shakes Costa Rica's Central Valley :

An earthquake initially reported at a magnitude of 4.6 rattled Costa Rica’s Central Valley at 11:51 a.m. on Thursday, and could be felt for approximately 15 seconds in downtown San José.

The University of Costa Rica’s National Seismological Network (RSN) said the earthquake originated five kilometers east of Naranjito de Aguirre, Quepos, along Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast.

The National University’s Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) registered the earthquake at a magnitude of 4.7, while RSN initially reported the temblor as being as strong as a magnitude-5.1. RSN changed that preliminary estimate to a magnitude-4.6.

Commenters on social media reported feeling the earthquake in San Pedro, Aserrí, Santo Domingo de Heredia, La Sabana, La Uruca, and other points surrounding the capital.
