Avianca now offers San José-San Andrés flights on weekends

Avianca this week will launch a new non-stop route between San José and the Caribbean island of San Andrés, Colombia, starting next Friday.

The new route will offer flights three times a week, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and will use ATR72 type aircraft with a capacity of 68 passengers.

Departures from San José will leave at 11:50 a.m. with arrivals at 2:09 p.m. on the island. Flights from San Andrés will leave at 2:44 p.m. and arrive at 3:01 p.m. in Costa Rica.

Avianca’s regional sales director, Danilo Correa, said he is convinced Tico travelers will welcome this new option because San Andrés is a favorite destinations for Costa Ricans.

“Its geographical proximity, the island’s entertainment and hosting infrastructure, as well as attractive shopping options are some of the main reasons,” Correa said.

The flight also will be offered as a connection from Costa Rica for travelers from other regional countries including Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador.

The airline will offer special introductory prices during the route’s first days.
