Cyclists rally at Legislative Assembly to demand safer roads

A group of cyclists demonstrated in front of the Legislative Assembly in San José on Monday evening to demand more measures to protect them on Costa Rican roads and better laws to promote their safety. The protest was organized by the group ChepeCletas and the Asociación Regional Centroamericana para el Agua y el Ambiente, or ARCA. “There is a lack of legislation, a lack of culture and a lack of infrastructure to favor the use of bicycles in Costa Rica. It’s currently too dangerous, and we are here to demand better conditions,” said Roberto Guzmán, director of ChepeCletas.
