Former US President Bill Clinton to visit Costa Rica

Former U.S. President William J. Clinton (1993-2001) will visit Costa Rica next Tuesday, July 1, as part of the inauguration of a new medical research and teaching facility at the Universidad Latina in San Pedro, east of San José.

Clinton, an honorary ambassador for Laureate International Universities, makes his visit as part of Universidad Latina’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Laureate operates two private universities in Costa Rica, the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and the Universidad Americana, also known by its acronym, UAM. The network runs 75 universities in 30 countries around the world.

Clinton, founder of the eponymous foundation, will speak with Universidad Latina Chancellor Clotilde Fonseca about leadership and entrepreneurship in the 21st century on Tuesday after a private tour of the new five-story health care facility.

This is not “don Bill’s” first visit to Costa Rica. The 42nd U.S. president visited the country in 1997 to attend the Summit of the Americas. During the same trip he and then Frst Lady Hillary Clinton visited Braulio Carrillo in office and again in 2012 for the Sustainability and Happiness Business Forum.
